Illustrated in b/w and with colour plates of works of art, maps and plans. A few light marks to slipcase, volumes bright and clean. 'A History of Chinese Civilisation' was first published in France in 1972 by Librairie Armand Colin, Paris as a single volume under the title 'Le Monde chinois'. It was first translated into English and published by Cambridge University Press in 1982. A second English edition was published by Cambridge University Press in 1996.
