Providing fusing upstream from MC4 branch connectors anytime you are combining more than 3 module strings ensures that in the event of a fault in one of the strings that the current carrying capacity of the faulted panel will not be exceeded (hazard!). Note : ATC/ATO automotive blade fuses are rated to 32V DC, therefore this connector is only applicable for 32 & 36-cell solar modules.
