An auction label from Denver 1987 ex Harvard Mineralogical Museum donated by Russ Behnke. I would not be surprised if Russ wanted this one back. Although it only notes Hunan Province as locality it likely came from the Chatian Mine, Chatian Hg-Zn ore field, Fenghuang Co., Xiangxi, Hunan. That’s a good guess, so I will mark it only as Hunan. The quality of this piece is defined by the central cluster of metallic bright crystals to nearly 1cm in length. The overall distribution over the opaque bed of needle quartz is just stunning.
